Frankenstein Has Left The Building

Ja, det verkar visst ha blivit en trend det här, att skriva om klassiska böcker. Inte nog med Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter och Paul is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion, nu kommer även Frankenstein Has Left The Building. En bok om Elvis som Frankensteins monster. Även denna verkar bli en film så småningom.

Här är några ord från författaren av boken, Alan Goldsher:

"Basically, instead of doing what I did with 'Paul is Undead' - taking the Beatles myth and applying zombie mythology on top of that - I am taking 'Frankenstein' the book and rewriting it with Elvis [Presley] as the creature,". "The book takes place in the 1960s. It's still the same format as the original 'Frankenstein,' which is Dr. Frankenstein is relating the story to the ostensible narrator of the book."

"It's going to be very close in terms of story arc," he continued. "All of the same characters are going to be there, but it's going to be written in a whole new voice. Our Frankenstein character, he's from the South, just like [the real] Elvis."

He continues, "There's a big overlap with the Frankenstein story and the Elvis Presley story in that they're both fabricated entities. Frankenstein the creature is made from parts and Elvis was put together by really intelligent record label people. It could be argued that he was the first prefab artist. And then, both the creature and Elvis spent their lives looking for love and acceptance."
